All are promoted under the auspices of the Fell Runners Association and so the age qualification date is 01 January in the year of competition
This year once again we are promoting an additional FOUR JUNIOR FELL RACES (see below) for 6 year olds to 11 year olds
Year by year, more people seem to take part and enjoy the challenge of fell running, the tremendous friendship and also the scenery
Just click on the appropriate icon above to find details of each of the races. You will find the results of the previous year's race after the race entry details.
All events are £4, £1.50 for under 18's and FREE for under 16's to enter and results are available either by e-mail on the day of the race or by snail mail (50p) posted the next day.
Prizes are awarded at most events but only where there are a minimum of 3 runners in a particular age category
All runners should be aware of the potential dangers in fell running, especially in the winter months and when there is a sudden change in weather conditions. Courses are run over varying terrain including rocks, sand, mud, road and with such potential dangers as gorse, overhanging trees, nettles, thorns etc.
It is the runner's responsibility to take adequate precautions and, in line with FRA rules and guidelines, should be prepared to carry appropriate clothing, a whistle and sustinence with them, especially on longer runs
The FRA have published a warning about TICKS...so please check yourself after races, just in case.
In 2010, the 4 junior events for under 8's, under 10's and under 12's will be held in Thorpe on 1 June, Kirk Ireton on 30 June, Parwich on 3 August (with a senior 5 mile fell race) and with the final event in association with the annual Bradbourne event on 29 August. All f these races are FREE to enter
