20th New Years Day Hangover 5 Mile Road Race

This annual New Years Day Hangover 5 mile road race is held on a hard, hilly course with the first half going uphill. Between then and just before 4 miles, there is some good downhill running with a short, sharp 400m rise before a very fast descent to the finish. One year, Andy Wilton ran under 4.30 for the last mile (but over 6 minutes for the opening one!!)
However, this has not put off an increasing number turning out each year to welcome in the New Year with a hard run.
In 2010, the course was shortened to 4.3 miles as there was severe road icing within the last mile.
