10th Kovalam 5K Race : Sunday 27 February 2011
The course is on the road for the first 3km and is mainly downhill. The next 2km are on a range of stony tracks through the forest with a couple of hard climbs before the final 500m downhill stretch on the road to the finish.
The programme will also include a short Fun Run for the under 9's and a 2.5km race for the 10 to 13 year olds. The awards for these races will be school books, pens and a few Rupees.
Prizes in the main event will consist of cash awards but ONLY to local Indians.
Whilst there is no entry fee (my running friends in the UK make donations to support the cash prizes even down to the last finisher), non Indians are 'persuaded' to make a minimum donation of R200/- towards race costs.
Entries can be phoned through to me at my Indian house anytime from 1 February remembering that Kerala is 5hrs 30miins AHEAD of the UK and 4.30 ahead of Europe.
