Run Prague

Prague is a wonderfully historic city with beautiful Art Deco buildings, hundreds of fabulous churches and other buildings to look at, excellent food and beer and a cultural programme of theatre, opera, ballet, jazz and rock to rival any capital city.

Prague International Marathon organise 3 major events each year and I  promote trips to each of the events, even for those not wishing to actually run but use the occasion for a visit to the city

2009 DATES

  • HALF MARATHON: SATURDAY 28 MARCH
  • MARATHON: SUNDAY 10 MAY
  • WOMEN'S 5km and MEN'S 5km : SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER

HALF MARATHON : SATURDAY 28 MARCH : Like all of the 3 PIM promotions, it is a flat course and ideal for a good time. Also, if you have been successful in getting a place in the LONDON, it is a good event to have a fast 13.1 mile run sandwiched between a 2 mile run to the course and a longer cool down back to the hotel

MARATHON : SUNDAY 10 MAY : A very flat course and ideal for a fast time and also for those who may have missed out on the LONDON!! There are 2 inline races (6.5km & 3km) on Saturday and also a Corporate Marathon Relay on Sunday (3 x 10km & 1 x 12.2km) as well as a Family Fun Run of 4.2km on Sunday

WOMEN'S 5km & MENS 10kM : SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER - held as a night run in 2007 for the first time. Come and join me as I plan to run it on my 68th birthday. Both races are from Old Town Square on new, flat courses and earlier in the day, there is an open 4km fun run. You could fly out after lunch on Friday and back on Sunday if you have to be at work on Monday!!!

Why not come to one or more of these excellently organised events (at which I do the English commentary!!!) with my group.

As usual with my trips, YOU arrange your own flight from your local airport using one of the lowcost companies (BMIBaby, Ryanair, EasyJet, Thomsonfly, My Travel, Flybe, Monarch) and then I arrange for the transfer from the airport, your hotel, your race entry, a post race meal and even tickets to cultural events (excellent opera, ballet, theatre, concerts, jazz clubs).

City maps are provided and I also provide you with some other local information to help your stay more relaxing

The hotel I now use is Hotel Machova. It has single, double, triple and even some quadruple rooms. It is close to 6 tram lines serving the centre of the city that is about 10 minutes away.

There are lots of good restaurants and bars in the locality serving food and beer at less cost than in the city centre.

The hotel prices depend both the season and on numbers in the group but twin rooms are likely to cost around £30 pppn and triple rooms around £28 pppn. Unfortunately, single rooms cost between £44 and £50 pppn depending upon the season.

What I need to know is:

  • How many nights you require and will you be accompanied by another or other people. Please give the dates of the nights you will be staying.
  • The type of room (Singles; twin; triple ) and, if other than a single, with whom you will be sharing
  • If you wish to run, your name, date of birth, club, e-address, home address, telephone number.

Some comments from previous travellers in my Group

  • Just like to say thank you after what was a most fantastic weekend in Prague. Every detail was superb, regarding all the emails you sent before hand and everything went to plan. The meeting at the airport by yourself was most welcome on the Thursday early afternoon, with goodie bags, race number, maps, papers, etc many thanks for that. The hotel was fantastic and so nice to be well away from the centre of Prague itself which I liked, I prefer a quiet location. The race agreed by all 6 of the guys from Lerc was tough, more so by the unexpected warm weather (or was it the few beers the night previous) emm, well we all suffered any way. Once the half marathon was done and dusted the post race quiz was very good, even though we came 3rd?(is that correct) in the intercourse quiz overall. Could go on but all in all a cracking weekend David well organised, I would not hesitate in recommending this trip to anybody else top class. KH
  • Belated thanks for organising the Prague trip. I enjoyed my visit to Prague and your arrangement of the hotel, collection of race number and post race meal ensured less hassle and more time to relax. SG
  • A big thank you from Cathy and I for organising the entire weekend in Prague. For both of us it was our first race outside the UK so not having to worry about collecting numbers, finding information and getting to the start line was a huge weight off our shoulders.  Prague is a beautiful and fascinating city and one day I would like to come back and see some more of it.  It was also great to share the weekend with other friendly runners.  I will try to persuade some of our running club (the Stragglers) to join the next trip. TF
  • Just a short note to say many thanks for a super well organised weekend in Prague.  I really enjoyed visiting the city and taking part in the half marathon.  PG
  • I would like to thank you for helping to make it such an excellent weekend for my friends & I from Cambridge. You put a lot of work into the organising, & it paid off. I thought the hotel was very reasonable & also well located. No need to be in the centre of town. Thank you also for meeting us at the hotel - a nice touch. TL
  • Just a note to say 'thanks' for Prague.  We both really enjoyed it and wish we had stayed longer.  We got to the ballet on Sunday night, so that meant a concert, an opera and the ballet - not bad for a short break - oh, and a 1/2 marathon! LP
  • I just wanted to thank you for what we have all agreed was a fantastic weekend. We have all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was made even better as you had pretty much covered everything and very little organising was needed on our part. CA
  • I would like to thank you for organising the trip. I had a great time. The hotel was nice the organisation was excellent. CG
  • Thank you for organising a fantastic weekend - the race was great, the hotel comfortable & everything brilliantly organised. We enjoyed it all very much. SC
