The only race I now promote in Nottinghamshire is the annual race along the very flat and traffic free Southwell Trail on the May Day Bank Holiday.
At the suggestion of many ofthe entrants, this all off road race NOW STARTS at 10.00am and not at 7.30pm, at the end of the car park adjacent to the excellent pub, The Final Whistle, formerly The Newcastle Arms.
The Race HQ is at the back of my car on the car park or, if it is raining, in a room in the Final Whistle pub itself where you can have a beer or other drink after the event.
The out-and-back is absolutely FLAT and is a 5km wheel and GPS measured race along a compacted old railway line...all kilometers marked....and is perfectly SAFE and IDEAL for beginners and for junior runners.

Entry fee is £4 + £2 unaffiliated fee if not a member of an affiliated athletic club. Part of the entry fee will be donated to our charity, IDEAS (International Development through Education, Art and Sport), where we are raising funds to build a school for poor children in the southern Indian State of Kerala. Donations in addition to your entry fee are always greatly appreciated.
The car park is quite small but there is some good on-road parking immediately past the car park in a small road leading to an Industrial Estate with immediate access to the start.
By the way, if you are new to visiting Southwell, there is a wonderful Norman Minster in the town (with an excellent tea rooms) that is well worth a visit
